WAKARUSA, IN - In Loving Memory. Irene Przybysz Flowers (95) died peacefully on December 11 of natural causes. Her husband, Harry, preceded her in 2013. A life-long resident of South Bend, Irene was the youngest daughter, born to John and Wanda Przybysz on January 11, 1921. She attended St. Stanislaus School and then during the war years, she worked in the defense industry for Ball Band and Bendix Industries. She married Harry Flowers on August 5, 1944, and later worked as a baker for Hillview Bakery. Irene loved to bake and cook for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, raising flowers, and was a loving homemaker for her family. She loved to go fishing with Harry and taking trips to the beach with their family. She was especially fond of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren who treasured her kindness and gentle good humor. With Harry, Irene was a devout Christian and life-long member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Marie, and four brothers, Mitchell, Clem, Theodore, and Roman. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (& Cheryl), Brownsburg, IN; and David (& Lisa), Granger, IN; and by her daughters, Sharon O'Connor, Columbia, SC; Linda (& Ron) Thibault, Kansas City, MO; Diane (& Carlon) Scherzinger, Isle of Palms, SC; and Janis (& John) Myers, Mt. Pleasant, SC; and by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will occur at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N Bendix Drive, South Bend on December 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
