SOUTH BEND - Rita Jean Szocinski, 75, of South Bend died Sunday. Survivors include daughters, Pamela Walters (Jeff) and Andrea David; four granddaughters; and sister, Nancy L. Johns (Robert) all of South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23rd in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, the 22nd, from 4 until 8 p.m. Published in South Bend Tribune on Apr. 21, 2015

Obituary
Rita J. Szocinski Nov. 7, 1939 - Apr. 19, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Rita Jean Szocinski, 75, of South Bend died at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19th in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Szocinski was born November 27, 1939 in Linton, IN to the late Opal (Black) and Morris Kessner and had lived in South Bend most of her life. On May 23, 1959 in South Bend as Rita J. Kessner she married Joseph Szocinski, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen J. Szocinski on April 11th. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela J. Walters (Jeffrey) and Andrea David (Brian Kruszewski) both of South Bend; four granddaughters, Brandi J. David, Jessica N. Cauffman, Sarah E. Walters, and Alizabeth Kruszewski; her sister, Nancy L. Johns (Robert ) of South Bend; and a special cousin, Sharon Drury of Clarksville, TN. She was employed at Clay Township Clinic for 48 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, The Antique Club, and the Class of 1957 Washington Clay Alumni Group. She enjoyed her monthly lunch outings with past friends, spending time with her family, and cherished her visits to Jasonville, IN. Those who knew our Mom knew she was very proud of her grandchildren. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23rd in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Committal services and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. today, April 22nd in the funeral home.
