Irene was very active in the Our Lady of Hungary Parish, and worked many festivals and weddings throughout her lifetime. She was also an active Blue Bird and Campfire girls’ leader for many years. Irene was a devoted loving and nurturing mother, an excellent cook and seamstress. She sewed complete wedding apparel for all members of the wedding parties, horse show attire, and complete doll clothes wardrobes with exact fit. She had many talents and would be found helping remodel houses from building shelving and cabinets to replacing trim and flooring, baseboard and crown moldings and tearing out walls, wallpapering, painting, etc. She also was creative with floral arrangements and designing gifts and crafts. She made lovely ceramic items and gave them to family and friends as gifts. She loved to travel and travel she did in her later years when the family was grown. Irene loved animals and when her daughters decided that horses would be nice to have, she became a big part of their equestrian lives also, attending many horse shows and events, even at the national level. She donated time and money to many other organizations, including Pet Refuge where she became a foster home in the 1980s. Irene was a generous, kind person who was loved by nearly everyone that met her with a personality that was easy to be with. She had a zest for life and met each moment with a willingness to learn.
