GRANGER - Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Papczynski, 88, of Granger, died Monday morning, March 3rd, in Memorial Hospital. She was born November 10, 1919, in Hungary, to Paul and Marcella (Nagy) Szeklua.In June 1942, in South Bend, she married Alfred T. Papczynski, who preceded her in death along with her parents; a daughter, Donna Gonzales; sisters, Rose, Helen and Mary; and a brother, Paul. Betty is survived by a daughter, Marcella Boulicault of St. Louis; a son, Dennis (Pam) Papczynski of Granger; six grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Kristi Papczynski, Kimberly, Paul Jr. and Robert Gonzales; and 10 great-grandchildren. Betty was a wonderful mother and homemaker and worked many years for Greenwood Supermarket, and after retirement worked for Burger King. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 7th, in The HICKEY Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635, with Rev. David Klahr of New Creation Fellowship presiding. Memorials may be made to the Center for the Homeless, 813 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601; or to The Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin St., South Bend, IN 46601.
