Josephine Loretta Dregits
July 13, 1931 - Jan. 12, 2013

NILES - Josephine L. Dregits, 81, passed away January 12, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She fought for over 16 years. Born July 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Herman Harn and Catherine (Yurchik) Soper. On November 1, 1980, Josephine married Louis "Louie" T. Dregits in the Notre Dame Log Chapel. He preceded her in death in 2003. Both Josephine and Louie retired from the University of Notre Dame. Josephine is survived by two children, Carol (Ron) Krassow-Wilson of Kalamazoo, MI, and Ed (Gloria) McFadden Jr. of South Bend, IN; their father, Edmund McFadden Sr. of Niles, MI; six step-children, Maryann (Joseph) Huber of Littleton, CO, Judy (Tom) Wells of WA, Joseph (Karen) Dregits of Osceola, IN, John (Jayne) Dregits of Mishawaka, IN, Michael (Mary Jo) Dregits of Granger, IN, and Theresa Hall of South Bend, IN; and a brother, Robert (Linda) Soper of Niles, MI. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, who she absolutely adored. Josephine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly, and worked very hard to give them the best life she could. She was a very determined woman and gave everything her all. She even fought her cancer with much diligence, hoping to make it to the age of 91. She and Louie loved to travel and had many great years together. She will be greatly missed, but now she is in Heaven walking the streets of Gold. A special thanks to all of her physicians and nurses, who helped her through this difficult time.
