On December 6, 2010, a bell rang and an angel got her wings. Monica M. (Moore) Gerbasich, 59, passed away in Kalamazoo, Michigan after a ten month illness. Monica was born on July 28, 1951in South Bend, IN. to Margaret and Walter Moore, who survives. Also surviving are Rick, her husband of 39 years; their three sons, Michael (Michelle) of Ft. Wayne, Bradley of Kalamazoo, and Ricki (Holly) of Cleveland. Monica was a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren, Katie, Bryce, and Samantha. Monica has four siblings; two sisters and two brothers, Ramona, Robin (Sullivan), Terrence (Edel), and Anthony (Pam). Monica also has twelve nieces and nephews. Monica graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1969 and from Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1972. Monica had worked as a nurse from 1972 until her recent illness, specializing in pediatric nursing. Monica enjoyed many hobbies, including cooking, crafting, cake decorating, and spending the summer days tending to her flower beds. Monica, for the last five years, lived to love her grandchildren. Monica loved her grandchildren as much as they loved her. She was affectionately known
to the grandchildren as "Ma". Monica would state a day with the grandchildren is the remedy of a bad day during her illness. Monica loved her friends and her family very much. She will be missed by all. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
