I have been looking through my book of Katyna, and I couldn't find a birth at the right time for Mathias to Andrew and Mary, but I did find several other children born to that family, so the records are probably just incomplete. In addition to Matthew, my book from Katynka has Valentinus (1868), possible Michael (1873), Eva (1876), and Angela (1881). The "possible Michael" is one I have confused myself on, because I wrote down that it was Andreas son of Michael Banicki, but the mother is the same Maryanna Andrejewska, so I think when I looked at the film I probably swapped Michael and Andrew. I am going to go back and look again tomorrow at another entry, so I will clarify. But until we get the death certificate, we at least know that Andrzej Banicki and Marianna Andrejewska were a real couple in that area and that the Matthew listed is almost definitely correct as he is listed, regardless of whether he is our guy or not.

I just noticed something in my book this morning that could be a really good answer for some of these questions. These entries are from my notes on Microfilm #2065274 .... Slupy, Szubin.PL
1859 baptism #26 IGNACY, son of Andrzej BANICKI and Cecylia WOZNIAK
1861 baptism #27 LEON, son of Andrzej BANICKI and Cecylia WOZNIAK
I looked for an entry for the same parents having a son named John, since Ignatz's obituary in SB says he is survived by two brothers, John and Leo, but I didn't find one. However, I know for a fact that the record collections on that microfilm are incomplete, because there are lots of years missing, and there are no entires for some people that I know should be there. So it's not a busted theory. I told you before about the entries for the children of Andrzej Banicki and Marianna Andrzejewska, but I couldn't find a reference to their marriage in my notes. I also found children born to an Andrzej BANICKI and Wiktoria KUDLINSKA in the late 1840's and early 1850's, but I could not find the marriage for Andrzej BANICKI to Cecylia WOZNIAK either. I was wondering if maybe KUDLINSKA was his first wife, and she died and he married WOZNIAK. Then the one who married ANDREJEWSKA was probably a different Andrzej????? Anyway, I don't have the records to prove that line of thinking yet, but maybe you have some information on your end, in American records. Not sure.
