Shirley M. Kling, 89 years old, passed away at 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Center for Hospice, Mishawaka. Mrs. Kling was born on April 2, 1932 in Nappanee, IN to the late Harvey and Goldie (Ingle) Copenhaver. She has lived most of her life in South Bend. On February 11, 1950 in Nappanee, Shirley and Sidney M. Kling were united in marriage. Her husband, Sidney, preceded her in death on August 26, 1999. Her granddaughter, Jessica Kling; one sister; and two brothers also preceded her in death. Mrs. Kling is survived by her two sons, Shad (Janet) Kling and Shannon (Joyce) Kling, both of South Bend; and four grandchildren, Robert (Mandy) Kling, Lindsay (Adam) Ference, Hayley (Allen Pressel) Welch, and Angela (Matthew) Snell. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Kling retired after working at Toasties for over 35 years as a waitress. She was a faithful member of Southlawn United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kling was an avid Bingo player. During her younger years, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing. They also enjoyed bowling together. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Pastor Scott Kaser will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Shirley M. Kling may be donated to Southlawn United Methodist Church, 60756 U.S. 31, South Bend, IN 46614.
