SOUTH BEND - Elaine H. Rzepka, 82, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. A New Carlisle, IN, native, Elaine was born on September 2, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to the late Frank and Mary (Gadacz) Geabler of New Carlisle, IN. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Rzepka of Bowling Green, KY, and by her sister, Jane Glon of South Bend, IN. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clem M. Rzepka; their three children, Susan (Chris) Coughlin of South Bend, Samuel (Christine) Rzepka of Bowling Green, KY, and Kenneth Rzepka of Bluffton, South Carolina; three grandsons, Ryan (Shelly) Coughlin of South Bend, Thomas (Lindsay) Coughlin of Indianapolis, IN, and Justin (Leslie) Rzepka of Louisville, KY; great-grandson, Will Coughlin of South Bend; great-granddaughter, Callahan Coughlin; and by her sister, Dolores Orosz. Elaine graduated from New Carlisle High School. She retired from RACO Manufacturing and also worked at the Airport Skyroom, White Chimney Restaurant, Chauncey's Restaurant, and helped cook at St. Stanislaus Terre Coupee in New Carlisle, IN. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010, in the funeral home. Cremation will take place with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
