Quinton W. Whitfield, 62, of 26422 Whippoorwill Drive, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mr. Whitfield retired in March as a test-equipment specialist at Bendix Corp. after 31 years service. He was born Nov 17, 1923, in Hopkins County, KY, and had lived in South Bend the last 44 years. On Feb. 12, 1949, in South Bend, he married the former Lucinda M. Lewandowski, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Renee Hochstetter of South Bend; two sons, Gary and Paul, both of South Bend; five brothers, Woodburn of Nortonville, KY, Raymond G. of South Bend, Everett J. of Buchanan, Strother of Dana Point, CA, and Frank of Phoenix, AZ; and his mother, Effie Pearl Whitfield of South Bend. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
