Bernard R. Bernie Ladewski
Aug. 8, 1920 - June 23, 2013 SAINT CHARLES, IL -Bernard (Bernie) R. Ladewski, 92, passed away at 2:45 pm Sunday, June 23, 2013, in the Pine View Care Center. Bernie was born August 8, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Stella (Nowakowski) Ladewski. On February 21, 1946, in South Bend, Bernie married Joan P. (Turner) Ladewski, who preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Steve) Hensley of Saint Charles, IL; granddaughter, Jessica (Tim) Sendek; grandson, Grant (Olivia) Hensley; great-grandson, Leo Sendek; and brother, George Ladewski of South Bend. Bernie honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aerial Photographer during WW II, and was a member of American Legion Post 357. He was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Matthew Catholic Church, and an usher for Notre Dame football for 52 years. Bernie was an avid Notre Dame fan and fisherman. Most of all he dearly enjoyed his family, in particular his grandchildren and great-grandson. Visitation for Bernie will be 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Thursday, June 27, 2013, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 27, 2013, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
