Louis A. Buda, 83, of West Poland Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, in Hospice of St. Joseph County. He was born on May 30, 1920, in South Bend, to Albin and Anna (Wysoglad) Buda, who preceded him in death along with his sister, Albine Laskowski, and brothers, Joseph Buda and Walter Buda. On March 21, 1942, in South Bend, Louis married Bertha Budzinski. Surviving Louis is his wife, Bertha; daughter, Bonnie (Ronald) Tafelski of South Bend; sons, James (Susan) Buda of Peoria, Ill., Ronald (Janet) Buda of South Bend and Conrad (Cynthia) Buda of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandchildren, Scott Tafelski, Lori Kauffman, Jenna and Jayme Buda, Brian and Brett Buda, Brigette Hundt, Weston and Katy Buda; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Abbey Tafelski, and Caleb and Anna Kauffman. Louis was a member of St. Adalbert Church. He worked for 22 years at Studebaker and 10 years at SB Lathe, and then retired after nine years with A.M. General. He was also a member of American Legion Post #284 and the DAV #6. Louis was a second lieutenant in the Army during World War II. Visitation will be today, April 27, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Church, 2420 W. Huron St., South Bend, IN 46619; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
