EDWARDSBURG - Kathryn B. "Kay" Nordin, 69, years old, of Garver Lake, Edwardsburg, passed to her rest after a brief illness on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 1:10 a.m. while patient at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of South Bend. Kay was born January 8, 1939, in Mishawaka, the daughter of Daniel and Harriet E. (Ellsasser) Bechtel, and had lived all of her life in the Michigan area. She was a registered nurse, having worked for Dr. Wills at the South Bend Clinic until her retirement. She was married Aug. 6, 1960, in South Bend, as Kathryn Bechtel, to Charles E. Nordin, who survives with two children, Karen Sue (Kevin) Smith of West Chicago, IL, and Chuck (Jenny) Nordin of Indianapolis, IN. There are four loving grandchildren, Katie and Karen Nordin, Maggie and Lilly Smith. There are cousins who survive. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St. (US 12) in Edwardsburg. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Reese, Pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, Edwardsburg, officiating. Friends may call Tuesday for one hour before services in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge and the Indiana Nurses Association. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Indiana, 921 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
