SOUTH BEND - Loretta Mae (Rybicki) Megyesi “Jitter”, 90, of South Bend went to the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. She was born to the late Aloysius and Helen (Nespo) Rybicki of Michigan City, IN on November 18, 1925 in South Bend, IN. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Quinlan (Eileen) and Ervin (Jeanette, surviving). Loretta married Eugene F. Megyesi on April 19, 1947 in St. Casimir Church. After eleven years of marriage and three daughters, they went their separate ways. Loretta will be remembered as a loving and caring mother. In her eyes, her greatest accomplishment was raising her three devoted daughters, Diana Fozo of South Bend, Shirley (Donald) Budd of Sanford, FL and Carol Megyesi of Mishawaka. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Wendy, Lance, Jennifer, David, Erin and Jessica. Loretta's 12 great grandchildren: Brandy, Dylan, Daegan, Landon, Tristan, Alyssa, Sebastian, Enzo, Courtney, Devin, Kaelyn Loretta and Kinsley brought her many years of joy and happiness. She is also survived by her nephew, Father Daryl Rybicki of Corpus Christi Parish and his sister, Mary Ann Peters, also nieces Sandy and Michelle Rybicki. Being a devout Catholic, Loretta attended St. Stanislaus and St. Casimir Catholic Schools followed by South Bend Catholic High. She participated in the American Legion Post 357 Drum and Bugle Corps. “Jitter” worked as a carhop at Don's Fiesta where she met friends Nevie, Kelly, Cece and Virge Rychuralski. Loretta later worked at Goldblatt's Department Store for over 10 years until she suffered a stroke at age 52. She continued to be active in her community through volunteer work at Saint Joseph Hospital aiding other stroke patients and was treasurer of the Stroke Club. She was very generous with her time in assisting others with special needs. She was a member of Saint Anthony Parish for over 30 years where she also donated her time to various church activities. Besides being an excellent bowler on a league for the Maennerchor Club, Loretta loved the Cubs and went on several bus trips, where she had the pleasure of meeting Ron Santo. She was a season ticket holder for Notre Dame women's basketball games and her favorite player was Skylar “Diggie” Diggins and always watched Notre Dame football on T.V. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. “See you later alligator...after while crocodile...pretty soon mushroom.””All the way Loretta Mae!” “Call me when you get home.” Upon moving to Fairington Apartments in South Bend, she returned to her home parish of Saint Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 Dunham Street, South Bend, IN where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2016 followed by a service in the mausoleum and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
