SOUTH BEND - Alex S. Kokot, 74, of North O'Brien Street, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal. Mr. Kokot retired from Metropolitan Insurance Co., after 17 years of service as an agent. He also was employed by Studebaker Corp. and was a former guard at 1st Source Bank. He was born May 2, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On Nov. 6, 1954, in South Bend, he married Sophie Zmyslo. She survives, with a son, Dale of South Bend; a grandchild; and a sister, Verna Stroup of South Bend. He was a member of Harvest House of St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum of St. Joseph Cemetery, with military services conducted by American Legion Post 357. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
