South Bend - Helen Lucille Hochstetler, 74, of South Bend passed away peacefully on June 27, 2021 at Hospice House in Elkhart, IN. She was born August 7, 1946 in Bremen, IN to the late Edward and Erma (Oelrich) Sienicki. On August 30, 1964 in Bremen, IN she married the love of her life, Paul W. Hochstetler. Paul and Helen began their life in Columbus, Ohio then moving to LaPorte and shortly thereafter to South Bend. Together the enjoyed their son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paul preceded Helen in death on November 16, 2017 along with brothers Charles and Timothy. Helen is survived by her son, Blake Hochstetler of South Bend; two grandchildren, Paul (Kajsa) Hochstetler of Elkhart and Emma Hochstetler of North Carolina; great grandchild, Lia Beuis; brothers, David (Linda) Sienicki of Claypool, Dennis (Kelly) Sienicki of Goshen, Charles (Leann) Hochstetler of Roseland Park, KS, and Roger (Sydney) Hoschtetler of St. Louis, MO; sister Dorothy (Dennis) DeKeizer of Mishawaka; nephews, Joel (Staci) and Casey (Angela): and nieces, Deanne, Janice, Sandra, Shelly (Ryan), Katie (Tim) and Jessica. Helen earned her Masters Degree from Indiana University and taught middle school science for St. Anthony's and the South Bend School Corporation. Her home was always a welcoming place for family and friends alike. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 for 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Graveside service and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr, South Bend, IN 46614.
