SOUTH BEND - Norbert C. Pejza, 84, passed away Sunday in Elkhart Hospice House. Norbert is survived by his two sons, Robert (Cheryl) Pejza and Jack (Julie) Pejza, both of South Bend; his sister, Dolores (Bill) O'Brien of Cincinnati, OH. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 13, in St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in St. Casimir Catholic Church, where friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service.

Norbert C. Pejza

SOUTH BEND - Norbert C. Pejza, 84, passed away at 5:28 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2011, in Elkhart Hospice House. Norbert was born on February 21, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Bert and Catherine (Piechowicz) Pejza. He was preceded in death by his son, William Pejza; and by his two brothers, Ervin and Eugene Pejza. On May 14, 1949, Norbert married Virginia (Wroblewski) in St. Casimir Catholic Church, who survives along with their two sons, Robert (Cheryl) Pejza of South Bend and Jack (Julie) Pejza of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Mary Pejza of South Bend; three grandsons, Steven, Nicholas and Timothy (Juliann) Pejza; two step-grandsons, Troy (Carrie) Parmelee and Travis Parmelee; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Parmelee and Bria Parmelee; and by his sister, Dolores (Bill) O'Brien of Cincinnati, OH. Norbert worked for the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 172. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Married Men's Club, Holy Name Society, Senior Citizens Potluck and Ushers Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 357, PNA 83, and he was one of the original members of Mruk's Club. He loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Norbert honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He retired in 1988 from O.J. Shoemaker as a service technician. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2011, in ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, where friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 22579 Old US 20 East, Elkhart IN 46516. Family would like to thank the staff at Hamilton Grove, Sanctuary at St. Joseph, Memorial Hospital and to Hospice. Condolences for the family may be at www.sjfh.net.
