MISHAWAKA - Chester M. "Krutch" Sandefur, 68, of Mishawaka, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Chester was born on May 30, 1941, in Mishawaka, to the late Cecil and Leah Marie (Stanage) Sandefur. On January 28, 1961, he married Linda Toombs. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; three children, Ida (fiancé, Lenard Wilson) Byam, Brenda (John) Price and Michael Sandefur, all of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Daniel Byam, Kenneth Byam, Ryan Price, Derrick Price and Christopher Price; and two great-grandchildren, Cassie Byam and Evan Wilson. He is also survived by three brothers, Fred (Dee) Sandefur of Elkhart, Sheridan (Cheryl) Sandefur of Mishawaka and Bobby George (Diane) Sandefur of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Hubert Sandefur, and five sisters, Edith Wittner, Gloria Riffle, Pearl Johnson, Thelma England and Carolyn Mae Sandefur. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
