SOUTH BEND - Edna M. Michalski, 90, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Briarcliff Health and Rehabilitation Facility surrounded by her family. Edna was born May 8, 1925 in Dowagiac, Michigan to the late Fred and Sophia Kitt. Edna married Sylvester Michalski in South Bend, he preceded her in death. Edna was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Overmeyer; brothers, Steve Morozowski, John Kitt; and sisters, Ann Podemski, Helen Hubler, Faye Zakrocki, Leena Rembolt and Mary Kuna. Survivors of Edna include a son, James P. (Mary) Michalski of South Bend; grandchildren, Dawn (Dwayne) Wunder of South Bend, Scott (Dawn) Overmyer of Ft. Wayne, Sally (Brian) Abbott of South Bend, and Dana (Matthew) Hamilton of Mishawaka; and numerous great-grandchildren. Edna retired in 1987, she was a waitress/cook at Frankie's, Stage Coach, Vegetable Buddies and Bilello's Restaurants through the years. She loved to play cards with family and friends. Edna enjoyed cooking for family and friends, nobody left the house hungry. Most of all Edna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Visitation for Edna is 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Funeral Service will be held immediately following the viewing at 6:00 pm. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
