KOONTZ LAKE - Michael L. “Mikey Polack” Krzyzewski, 67, passed away April 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. Mike was born April 15, 1949 in Gary, IN to Stefan and Blanche (Miksa) Krzyzewski and lived at Koontz Lake for 22 years, coming from Portage. He was a retired employee of Gary Hobart Water and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post #27 of Plymouth and the American Legion Post #502 of South Haven. He was a board member of the Koontz Lake Association and a member of the Koontz Lake Lions Club, serving as secretary for many years.Survivors include one sister, Frances (Jerry) Michelesen of Tinley Park, IL and one nephew, Daniel Lilley of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by brother, Steven Krzyzewski and sister, Patricia Lilley.A memorial service will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Friends may call Monday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Koontz Lake Lions Club.
