Felix J. "Phil" Wadzinski, 96, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, formerly of Parkwood Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:07 pm Friday, May 16 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. He was born on Jan. 16, 1907, to the late Henry and Josephine (Wieczorek) Wadzinski in south Bend and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Wadzinski retired from Bendix Corporation, following 42 years of service.On June 20, 1927, he married Helen Kalka in St Adalbert Catholic Church, South Bend. She died on July 26, 1987. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph J. Wadzinski on Oct 27 1994 and Eugene J Wadzinski on May 5 1978; one sister, Sr.Mary Lea, C.S.C.; and four brothers, Leon, Joseph, Casimir and Stanley Wadzinski. He is survived by one grandson, Aaron "A.J." Wadzinski of South Bend; one great-grandson, Ethan Wadzinski of South Bend; one sister, Lottie Golba of South Bend; two daughters-in-law Patricia A Wadzinski of South Bend and Sylvia Wadzinski of South Bend; and by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wadzinski was a member of St. Adalbert Parish, where he belonged to both the Holy Name Society and Harvest House of the church. He was also a member of St Joseph Young Men's Society and Bendix Retiree's Local #9 UAW. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a/m/ Tuesday, may 20, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A Mass for Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, May 20 in St Adalbert Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
