WALKERTON - Opal M. Kranitz, 95, of Walkerton, IN, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at We Belong Senior Health Care, Plymouth, IN. She was born on May 30, 1920, in Teegarden, IN, to the late Nelson and Gertrude (Harley) Baughman. On March 7, 1940, she was united in marriage to Louis Kranitz, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2001. Mrs. Kranitz is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Darrell) Stephens of Argos, IN, and Carol (Jerry) King of North Liberty, IN; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gloria Kranitz; and two sisters, Shirley (Roland) Lichtenbarger and Marian Bralich. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Robert Kranitz; grandson, Aaron Stephens; three sisters, Velma Mangus, Elaine Haycraft and Ruby Kaiser; and brother, Harley Baughman. Mrs. Kranitz was a liflong area resident. She was a member of Church of the Brethren and was a very spiritual person with a strong belief in God. Mrs. Kranitz was 110% focused on her family and loved cooking family dinners. She enjoyed gardening, sewing clothes, and loved her animals. She drove a tractor and helped on the dairy farm. She was very independent, living in her own home until a week before her death. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, IN.
