SOUTH BEND - Daniel R. Kocsis Jr., 86, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, in Memorial Hospital. Daniel was born March 10, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Daniel and Mary (Vargo) Kocsis. Daniel was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Vass. On November 22, 1945, in St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Daniel married his loving wife of 69 years, Mary (Gorski) Kocsis; she survives along with their children, Diane (Thomas) Zmyslo, Rosemarie (Richard) Morrison and Ronald D. (Eva) Kocsis Sr., all of South Bend; grandchildren, Dennis Zmyslo, Tammy Boyer, Tara Zmyslo-Benedict, Thomas Zmyslo Jr., Rebecca Jerzak, Rachael Kute-meier, Nicholas Kocsis, Ron Kocsis Jr., Kelley Kocsis-Moffett and Andrew Kocsis; 15 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Vicky (Lawrence) Pauwels . In 1988, Daniel retired from Inland Rans as a warehouseman. He was a 42-year Teamster Union member. He was a 50-year lifetime member of the Moose Lodge Elkhart #599. Daniel was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Harvest House of St. Adalbert. Daniel was a master carpenter who built his own home. He enjoyed bowling and politics. Most of all, Daniel loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Kocsis family would like to thank all the staff on the 10th Floor of Comfort Care at Memorial Hospital for all their compassion and care. Visitation for Daniel will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 4, 2014, at ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy., Mishawaka, IN 46545, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, or charity of donor's choice.
