Julia B. Piatkowski

Julia B. Piatkowski, 81, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, Ind., formerly of Peppermint Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday in the retirement community.She was born May 21, 1920, in South Bend, and was the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Kubacki) Bieganski. Mrs. Piatkowski was an employee of the former Enro Shirt Factory. On September 3, 1938, in South Bend, as Julia Bieganski she married Adam Piatkowski who preceded her in death on October 9, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leo Bieganski and one sister, Phylis Van Laere. She is survived by two daughters, Loretta Mink of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Sylvia Buszkiewicz of New Carlisle; a son, Joseph Piatkowski of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Sherburn of South Bend.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Piatkowski was a member of Polish National Alliance Lodge #83, God and Country, Ladies Rosary Society and Harvest House, both of Holy Family Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, 425 N. Michigan St., Suite 308, South Bend, IN 46601-1236.
