SOUTH BEND - Shirley K. Kajzer, 68, of South Bend, IN passed away at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, following an illness. She was born on November 13, 1942 to Forrest Lex and Betty (Starkey) Templeton in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Both her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Kajzer retired in September 2008 from St. Joseph County Airport Authority, where she worked as an Executive Assistant for 21 years. On November 6, 1965, as Shirley K. Templeton, she married James P. Kajzer at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1983. She is survived by two sons, Steven Kajzer of South Bend, IN; Michael (Jennifer) Kajzer of San Clemente, CA; one grandson, Alexander Kajzer of San Clemente, CA; and one sister, Cheryl Templeton of Pompano Beach, FL. Shirley was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish, AARP, and RIPEA. She loved to travel and went on many trips, including cruises, South America, Central America, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Shirley also loved traveling to Notre Dame Football away games. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 3526 Saint Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628.
