SOUTH BEND - Janet was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Adam and Marie Virginia Markiewicz (nee Micinski). Also preceding in death was a brother, Donald Markiewicz. Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Michael Markiewicz; a sister, Marcia (Jim) Huys; sister-in-law, Mary Markiewicz, and sister-in-law, Barb Ellis (Markiewicz). Also surviving are the "loves of her life", her nephews, Joe, Paul, and Steve Markiewicz, and John and Todd Roys and their families. Janet was a very loving Aunt whose greatest joy in life was being with and shopping for all of her family whom she loved to spoil. She relished in finding "just the right gift" for family and friends. She was a very caring and giving person, always worried about and ready to help a friend. Upon graduating from Central High School, Janet spent her working years in the insurance business, first at Allied Insurance where she worked for over forty years, and then at Surplus Insurance for five years. Janet was a life-long faithful parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, where she was a devoted member of the Choir and Rosary Society. Since there are not enough words to describe how much she loved to make others happy, we will just say: Thank You, Janet, for being such a Special Daughter, Sister, Aunt, In-Law, Great-Aunt, and Friend. You were loved and will be greatly missed by us all. Visitation for Janet will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S. Scott St., South Bend, IN. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Janet's name and donated to St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S. Scott St., South Bend, IN 46601.
