[N12523] Robert Eugene Vaszari
February 4, 1935 - December 27, 2007 (age 72)

Our Dad, our very Special Dad, passed away suddenly on the morning of December 27, 2007. We did not have time to say good-bye. He was born on February 4, 1935 in South Bend to Julius Vaszari and Mathilda (Varga) Sappenfield. Bob resided on Riddles Lake in Lakeville. Some of his most memorable times were spent enjoying the surroundings of his home on the lake. He and Gailann Palmer were married on April 27, 1957 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. They were inseparable for fifty wonderful years. Bob was also a former parishioner at St. Jude Catholic Church, South Bend. Out of their marriage, three children were born and who survive. Jodi (Tom) Bogunia, Kevin E. (Kimberly) and Robert B., all of Lakeville. Their Dad was their best friend, their mentor, their "rock" and shall be sorely missed forever. Bob also leaves his eleven grandchildren. He loved them all so much. Jamie, Justin, and Nicholas Merrill, Heather, Travis, Aaron and Dylan Vaszari. Also are step grandchildren, Jeremy Weis and Chrissa Goodrich and Marcy and Matthew Bogunia. There are also eight great grandchildren. They all will suffer a void in their lives. Bob leaves two sisters, Therese (Jack) Fansler of Lakeville and Reggie Vaszari of South Bend and two brothers, G.R. "Skip" (Linda) Vaszari of Spring Grove, IL and John (Ranada) Vaszari of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Riley High School. He was employed by Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka for twenty-eight years and was then employed and retired from Ristance, in Argos after twelve years. Friends may pay their respects at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday morning, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
Bob was Jamie's primary caregiver for almost thirty years. He never tired and always enjoyed spending time and helping Jamie with all of his needs. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital, 50 S. Meridian Street, Suite 500, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Online condolences may be made to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
