Al St. John Mitri

AL (“POPS”) Mitri passed away at his home on Thursday, February 10, 2022. AL was born May 11, 1951 to Albert J. Mitri and Mary (Serrano) Dequattro. AL was raised in Chicago, IL and moved to South Bend, IN in 1979. AL worked as Chief Engineer for Choice Hotels for almost 20 years before retiring. He was married to Sedalia Mae Mitri who passed in 2001. AL enjoyed fishing, music and dancing. He loved to joke around and made everyone around him laugh. Cherishing his memories are his lovely daughters, Mari Mitri of Valparaiso, IN, Florence Smith (Kevin) of South Bend, IN, Jhavonya Garza of South Bend, IN, Pamela Coley, Shenice Coley, Dalayna Coley, Kenya Coley and Dewana Coley all of Indianapolis, IN and partner, Kyra Harris of South Bend, IN. Sons, Anthony Mitri of Florida, Mario Mitri and Christopher Mitri of Arizona, Joe Hurt (Patty) of Valparaiso, IN, Pete Mitri of Illinois and sisters, Nina Dequattro of Illinois, Etta Brisco, Alma Presto and Edna Betts all of Illinois. Brothers, John Dequattro of Illinois, Bill (Lisa) Borders of Crumstown, IN survive as well as grandchildren, Adam, William, Richard, Alicia, Trenton, Demitrice, Ava, Calogero and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Preceding AL in his passing is his mother and father, wife, Sedalia Mitri, daughter, Szang Coley and brother, Angelo Dequattro. A celebration of his life will be held, Friday February 18, 2022 starting at 5:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. Chicago time) at Palmer Funeral Homes-West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
