[N34597] Jennie A. (Maes) Witucki
February 15, 1930 ~ March 4, 2023 (age 93)

Our Mother, Jennie (Maes) Witucki passed away on March 4, 2023 with her loving family and her little dog Benji by her side, to join her loving husband Ed. Jennie was born February 15, 1930 to Domien Maes & Catherine (Yandl) Maes, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Carlo. Jennie married the love of her life Edward J. Witucki on June 26, 1948 in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka. They were married for 60 wonderful years, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2009. She is survived by her children Shirley (Joseph) Majewski of South Bend and Bruce (Patricia) Witucki of South Bend and her three grandchildren, Arlan (Erika) Dougan of Mishawaka; April (Earl) Stahl of South Bend and David Witucki of South Bend; Brother -in-law John (Barbara) Witucki. Her sister-in-law, Barbara was like a sister to Jennie. They enjoyed going to movies, garage sale hopping and just being together. Jennie also had many nieces and nephews and her dog Benji, which was her walking buddy. She also had many longtime friends, Adeline Masozan, JoAnn Edwards, Martha Kugler, Beryl Guzowski, Gerri Rothballer, Anne Mae Jacobs, Tom and Pat Bolinger, Pam Griffin, Mary Ann Buss, also Michelle Buck who was a kind lady that took the time to walk my mother’s dog when my mom was sick. Jennie retired as a Title One tutor from the South Bend Community School Corporation after 21 years of service. She enjoyed working with the children. Jennie belonged to St. Casimer’s Senior Club and Pot Luck Euchre Club where she had a lot of good friends. Jennie enjoyed going out for lunch with her cousins, Darryl, Candy, Rich, and Sue every month and her son Bruce and wife Patti. Jennie also had a special friend Kenneth Cwidak who took care of her yard and made it look beautiful. Jennie enjoyed doing crafts, working in her flower garden, feeding the birds and squirrels, walking her dog Benji and was also an avid reader of Amish novels. She enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends. She enjoyed seeing Bobby Vinton in concert. He was her favorite entertainer. Her biggest joy was celebrating birthdays and holidays and watching the Notre Dame games with her family whom she loved very much. Jennie was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Our family would like to thank Caring Cove Hospice and Lovely Ladies who have taken such good care of our mother during her time of need. We would especially like to thank her nurse Niki for her tender loving care. To those I love & those who love me, when I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love; you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now its time I traveled alone, so grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part. So, bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So, if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see me or touch me, I’ll be near, and if you listen with your heart you’ll hear, all my love around you soft and clear. And when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and “Welcome Home”. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Corpus Christi Church 2822 Corpus Christi Drive South Bend, IN 46628.
