SOUTH BEND, IN - Ellen E. Rosen, 82 of Huntley, died peacefully at 3am, January 29, 2019 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 4, 2019 at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Rd., Huntley, IL. Prior to the memorial service the family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Samaritan's Purse. Ellen was born February 4, 1936 in Hamburg, Germany the daughter of Moritz and Charlotte Alexander. The family lived in Colombia, South America from 1938-1947, when they moved to Chicago, IL. She gave her life to the Messiah at the age of 19 in October 1955. On June 1, 1958 she married Samuel Rosen of Chicago. Ellen worked as a teacher for many years teaching foreign language, and later as a real estate agent in South Bend, Indiana and for the St. Joseph County Assessor. She was the leader of God's Girls Bible study in Huntley. She is survived by her sons, Elliot (Linda) Rosen and Daniel (Carla) Rosen; by her grandchildren, Sarah, Molly, Hannah, and Ethan; and by her two sisters, Ilse Gerber and Renate Maynard. She was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Marion Alexander. For further information please call the funeral home at 847-515-8772.
