WAKARUSA - Richard "Dick" J. Guzicki, 87, of Wakarusa, IN, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, IN. He was born August 25, 1921, in South Bend, IN, to the late Joseph G. and Bernice (Jauicka) Guzicki, and had lived most of his life in South Bend. On January 21, 1950, in South Bend, he married Lola "Vivian" (Forkner) Guzicki, who preceded him in death April 23, 2008. Mr. Guzicki is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" V. and Debbie Guzicki of Mishawaka, IN; two grandchildren, Erin E. Guzicki and Kristin A. Guzicki. His brother, Edward Guzicki, preceded him in death. Mr. Guzicki attended South Bend Central High School. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre in Army Intelligence as a photo interpreter. Mr. Guzicki retired from Sibley Foundry after 40-plus years of service. He had many friends and co-workers he spent a lot of time with discussing the world's problems at Ranita's Bar and Grill. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was a member of the VFW. Mr. Guzicki was an avid sports fan, enjoying Notre Dame and the Cubs. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed playing cards with them. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Rev. Michael Heintz will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-8:00 p.m. today, March 18th, in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Miller's Merry Manor, 300 N. Washington St., Wakarusa, IN 46573.
