Joseph Henry Lyle, 86, of Bergan Street in South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:30pm Friday, October 28, 2005 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on January 4, 1919 to the late Alex I. and Vera (France) Lyle in New Castle, IN, and has lived in South Bend most of his life, coming from New Castle. Along with his parents; one brother also preceded him in death. Mr. Lyle retired in 1978 from Associates Investment Company, after 31 years of employment. Following retirement, he worked at A-1 Printers for 10 years. On September 4, 1943, he married Albina E. Durkalski at St. Patrick Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She survives. Along with his wife Albina, of 62 years; he is survived by four sons, Joseph R. Lyle of Greenville, SC; Gregory J. (wife Terry) Lyle of Lake St. Louis, MO; Douglas M. (wife Carol) Lyle of Gallatin, TN; Stephen E. (wife Susan) Lyle of South Bend, IN; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Mr. Lyle was actively involved in Junior Achievement, while he worked for Associates Investment Company. He was a member of S.P.E.B.S.U.S.A. Valley Aire Chorus South Bend/Mishawaka Chapter; and a member of Michiana Organ Club. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Tuesday, November 1, 2005 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, November 2, 2005 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Sister Lorraine Durkalski, Sisters of St. Joseph T.O.S.F. officiating. Cremation will follow. Entombment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: Holy Cross Catholic Church, 920 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN 46628; or to the charity of the donor�s choice.
