Dec. 29, 1918 - Feb. 2, 2017
CARMEL - Buford W. (“Bud”) Chandonia passed away on February 2 at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. The last surviving of ten siblings, he was born on December 29, 1918. He lived his whole life in Mishawaka before a recent move to the Indianapolis area to be nearer his daughter. An honors graduate of Mishawaka High School, Bud proudly served as a Staff Sergeant (Army MP) during World War II, stationed in England, France, Luxembourg and Germany. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka and a charter member and commander of American Legion Post 385 on Diamond Island in Cassopolis, MI. For 30 years, Bud worked at Lowe Lumber Company in Mishawaka, managing the operation for 22 years, and he developed the Shamrock Heights subdivision south of the city as well as property outside of Plymouth. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Hyska Chandonia; by his son, Ron (Charlene) of College Park, GA, and his daughter, Chris (Ed) of Carmel, IN; by five grandchildren: John-Marc Chandonia of San Francisco, CA, John-Paul Chandonia of East Point, GA, Chantel Chandonia of Decatur, GA, Paul Hale of Denver, CO, and Sarah Hale of Madison, WI; and by three great-granddaughters. Final arrangements are being handled by Bubb Funeral Chapel. At Bud's request, there will be no general service, and the family requests no flowers or contributions.
