Arthur T. Ast
March 22, 1979-Oct. 1, 1915

Arthur T. Ast, 63, of 1117 N. College, died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was employed for 15 years in the maintenance department of the South Bend Community School Corp. Ast was born on Oct. 1, 1915, in South Bend. On Nov. 21, 1940, he married Jane H. Zielinski. she survives with two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Kaniewski of South Bend, and Marlene Ast at home; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Trudy Kurtz of Sun City, Calif., Mrs. Phyllis Peczkowski and Mrs. Lucille Chrzan, both of South Bend. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev. Martin C. Rini C.S.C. of Christ the King Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home where the parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Ast was an army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion, Pulaski Post 357, and P.N.A. Post 1437.
