MISHAWAKA - Lynn M. Bertman, 60, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 9:18 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, in Memorial Hospital. Lynn was born on April 14, 1948, in South Bend, to Steven J. and Helen B.(Tschida) Madaras, and was a lifelong area resident. She retired from Indiana University, South Bend, where she had been employed for 33 years as a secretary. On May 8, 1976, in South Bend, as Lynn M. Madaras, she married David J. Bertman, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Eric M. Bertman and Aaron M. Bertman, both of Mishawaka, IN; one granddaughter, Kendall Bertman; one sister, Sue (Chris) Darnold of South Bend, IN; two nephews, Chad (Christine) Darnold and Scott Darnold; one great-niece, Makayla H. Darnold; one great-nephew, Cole M. Darnold; as well as many beloved friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:0 0 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, in St. Joseph Church, Mishawaka, IN. Those attending the Mass should meet at St. Joseph Church; there will be no funeral procession. Private burial will take place on Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call fro m 3 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Lynn was a 1966 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a member of St. Joseph Parish, Mishawaka, IN. She loved her collection of Boyd's Bears, shopping, and was an avid fan of "Q.V.C."
