SOUTH BEND -- Aloysius Jerome Krakowski, 80, of Logan Street, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday (March 26, 2002) at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 6 today and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Guisinger Colonial Chapel, with the rosary at 3 p.m. today. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka with the Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lakeville. Mr. Krakowski was born on July 5, 1921, to George and Solomena (Czerniak) Krakowski. He and his wife, Edythe "Mickey," were married on Sept. 1, 1989, and she survives. He also is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Janet) Blacharski of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Keith (Paulette) Schnick of Mishawaka; two sons, Daniel (Nancy) Morton of Osceola and William (Carol) Krakowski of South Bend; six stepchildren, Larry (Connie) Davis and Mrs. Joe (Darla) Carroll, both of Mishawaka, Dick (Shirley) Davis of Plymouth, Harry (Sandy) Davis of New Carlisle, Mrs. Ron (Jackie) Pressler of Osceola and Mrs. Dennis (Marsha) Johnson of Mechanixville, Va.; and three sisters, Sister M. Paulette Krakowski of Livonia, Mich., and Regina Pilarski and Henrietta Szymanski, both of South Bend. Two sisters, Mary Banicki and Sister Theo Krakowski, and a brother, Edward, are deceased. Mr. Krakowski served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as a printer for 57 years, beginning with the Goniec Polski, a Polish newspaper in South Bend, and including The Truth. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Mishawaka, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing and collecting coins, and was an avid fan of Lawrence Welk. Memorials may be given to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
