Dolores T. "Dee" (Grzegorek) Perkins, 93, passed away at 12:20am on Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s. Dolores was born on June 19, 1928, in South Bend to the late Joseph B. and Clara F. (Gorney) Grzegorek. On January 3, 1953, Dolores married August Kovach who passed away on June 19, 1969. Then on February 5, 1971, Dolores married Alfred L. Perkins and he passed away on October 21, 2012. Dolores was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. Dolores is survived by her children, Lynda (John) Tompkins and August Kovach (Gracie Ochoa), grandchildren, Amanda (Zak) Klug, Colton Tompkins, Ashlie (Dustin) Tejcek, Meagan Kovach and Jake Kovach; and great-grandchildren, Elliana and Emersyn Klug and Blain, Cole and Emberlyn Tejcek. She also has four step-children. Dee has been a bowler for most of her life and was the president of her bowling leagues for 20 years. She was the assistant director of the Senior Fun Club at Chippewa Bowl and organized all kinds of trips including cruises to Alaska and Hawaii along with many bus trips to see the Chicago Cubs. She and Al loved to travel. She also was very active in the Southlawn United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She loved her Southlawn family. Dee also loved gardening and they had a beautiful garden full of vegetables that she would freeze and can. After she lost her husband, Dee moved into St. Paul's which she described as "a great place to live". She sang in the choir there also and donated her time and abundant energy to every activity available. She always said “whatever comes up, you can count on me to do it!” She enjoyed her life and always loved having people around her. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Funeral Services will be 11am on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Dolores' memory can be made to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617.
