Joseph P. Swistek, 96, 1812 E. Barker Ave., Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at 12:45 a.m. in Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Michigan City.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 So. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN with the Rev. Frank Torres officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery Mausoleum with full military services conducted by the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN handled arrangements. He was born March 15, 1916 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Stanley and Frances (Pjorek) Swistek. On November 22, 1945 in Michigan City, IN he married Ruth E. Dallie who preceded him on December 6, 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Don) McDougal of Portage, MI; 4 sons, David (Juanita) Swistek of Michigan City, IN, Jim (Kathy) Swistek of LaPorte, IN, Richard (Donna) Swistek of Maricopa, AZ and Chuck (Sue) Swistek of Michigan City, IN; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John and Frank Swistek He was an upholsterer at Inter Royal and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Joseph was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451. He enjoyed his family and playing the harmonica.
