Mary Ann Polonka, 85, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Mary Ann was born January 19, 1937 in South Bend to late Edward and Rose (Wasielewski) Wasowski. On January 21, 1956 Mary Ann married her loving husband, John Polonka. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2022. She was also preceded in death by their daughter, Cynthia Polonka. Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her son, Michael (Julie) Polonka, and daughter, Victoria Greenwell; grandchildren, Jake Greenwell, Chris (Kathy)Polonka, Daniel Polonka, Jenny Huntman, and Jake (Rachel) Huntman; great-grandchildren, Everett, Ellie Polonka, and Diana Huntman. Mary Ann retired from Ideal Consolidated after 15 years of employment. She was a member of ZB Falcons, Ladies Aux VFW 9820, American Legion 357, Bowlers Country Club, and a former Girl Scout Leader. Mary Ann enjoyed golfing, puzzles, and coloring books. She loved to fish on Cable Lake and create themed Christmas trees. She was a child at heart during the holidays and always made treats and desserts for all the kids. Mary Ann kept a list of everyone’s birthdays, ensuring they were sent a card. She had a daily prayer ritual for all her loved ones. The family especially wants to thank Briarcliff Rehabilitation and Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their care and compassion. Private services are being held. Mary Ann will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
