SOUTH BEND - Cleland D. Rajski, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 8:42 p.m. in Hospice House. Cleland was born on November 15, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Edward and Nora (Walters) Rajski. On January 20, 1951, he married Betty L. (Burkus) Rajski, who preceded him in death on December 19, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his six siblings, Frances Rajski at birth, Helen Jank, Edward Rajski, Conrad Rajski, Norbert Rajski and Gerald Rajski. He is survived by two children, Pam (Robert) Rupert of Bremen, IN, and Randy (Janice) Rajski of South Bend; two grandchildren, Kyle (Shawna) Rupert and Matthew (Kristy) Rupert; one great-grandson, Mason Rupert; two step-grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Duddleson and Anthony (Shalon) Krol; two step-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Kellan; two sisters, Dolores Curtis of South Bend and Barbara Soleta of South Bend; two brothers, Chester (Lorena) Rajski of South Bend and Archie (Lois) Rajski of South Bend; and by his special friend, Evelyn Hock of South Bend. Cleland served in the United States Army during WW II and was a member of American Legion Post 357. He loved working with wood; there was nothing that he couldn't build or fix. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
