Edward W. Gapinski, 73, of Elkhart, died Nov. 17, 2021, after an extended illness. He was born Nov. 24, 1947 in Elkhart, Indiana, to Pearl E. Gapinski. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School and then went to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ed married Karla Gail on July 28, 1990; she survives him. He is also survived by daughters, Lori Taube and Stacy Osborne of Edwardsburg, granddaughter Brandi Osborne of Fishers, step-daughter Tonya (Aaron) Tsoukalas of Livonia, Michigan, and step-son Jared (Kristen) Myers of Elkhart and his brother, James (Denise) Roberts of Edwardsburg. Ed had a wonderful sense of humor, kind heart, and was always with a smile. He was a man who loved his family and who enjoyed spending time in nature. He loved to fish and hunt with his brother, Jim. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends. He was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan. He spent his career in management in the manufacturing industry and retired from Alpha Systems in Elkhart. Mayhew Funeral Home has arranged a military graveside service for family and friends that will be held at Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Michigan, on Friday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m.
