South Bend Tribune, Local Obituaries; August 25, 1955.
Joseph A. Wartha, 1509 S. Fellows St., died early Wednesday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born in South Bend, Feb. 22, 1901. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mary Wartha; six sisters, Mrs. Catherine Beutter, Mrs. Garold Brothers, and Mrs. Michael Szedenik, of South Bend, Mrs. Anne Arehart, of Hopkins, Mich., Mrs. Mary Valleau, of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Arden Mendel of Kouts, Ind., and two brothers, Edward and Anthony, both of South Bend. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today in the Hickey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthews Catholic Church, Rev. Arnold Wibbert, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers for the funeral of Joseph A. Wartha, 1509 S. Fellows St., to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, will be Gerold Brothers, Rudolph Wartha, Henry Wartha, David Harman, and Richard Harman.
