EDWARDSBURG, Mich. - Robert Henry "Bob" Fisette, 82, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Sunday, July, 22, 2012, in his home after an illness. He was born Sept. 29, 1929, to Henry J. and Margaret Ann (Barr) Fisette in Chicago. Bob retired from Bendix in South Bend, Ind. This was his secondary employment.Bob's life centered around his military career. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, having a total service time of 22 years, 5 months and 22 days. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. He retired as a 1st Lt. Bob lived in the Edwardsburg area before his time in the U.S. Marines and returned there in 1974. He was active in Veterans Affairs and was a member of Edwardsburg V.F.W. as post quartermaster.
He was also a member of Edwardsburg American Legion, Marine Corps. League, Marine Corps. Mustangs and Disabled American Veterans. Bob was married on Sept. 30, 1950, to Mary Jane Olejniczak. She survives. Also surviving are children Barbara Ann Cartwright of Cape Carteret, N.C. and John Henry Fisette, Randy (Becky) Fisette, Damon Pierre (Pam) Fisette and Peggy Fisette, all of Edwardsburg; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Rose Kline of Edwardsburg; and brother Joseph Fisette of South Bend. Family who have passed are his parents, brothers George and James Fisette and sister Margaret Ann Tutorow. Friends and family may gather for one hour prior to the Mass of Resurrection at noon Friday, July 27, 2012, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12 East, Edwardsburg. Officiating will be Father Joe McCormick. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery.
Full military rites will be given to remember the time that Bob served for his country by the U.S. Marine Corps. Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Borgess Visiting Nurses and Hospice, 348 N. Burdic St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.Arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
