MISHAWAKA - Charles P. Szekendy Jr., 82, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in South Bend, IN. He was born April 24, 1931, in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Vargyas) Szekendy and remained a lifelong resident. Charles was employed as a saw operator by Wells Aluminum in North Liberty. He retired in 1997 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Charles is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Toby Szekendy of South Bend; his nephew, Mike (Patti) Szekendy of Osceola; and his niece, Judy (Kevin) Henderson of Granger. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend, and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Charles may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 W. Calvert Street, South Bend, IN 46613.
