Christ L. Ninios
Christ L. NINIOS, 78, former owner of the Berghoff cafe here, died Wednesday at 10 p.m. in St. Joseph hospital at South Bend, where he was admitted Tuesday. Death came after an illness of four months. Mr. Ninios resided at 1119 Pontiac street. A native of Greece, he was born Dec. 25, 1894, in Kalamata, the son of Louis and Efstatha NINIOS. He came to Rochester in 1935 to join his cousins, Louis and Peter NINIOS, in the operation of the New York Candy Kitchen and Berghoff cafe when those businesses were located at [SE corner] Main and Ninth street. Mr. Ninios continued the operation of the Berghoff cafe at its new location at 1617 Main street until its sale in 1971. Peter Ninios died in 1959, Louis in 1961. His marriage was Sept. 19, 1949, to Mary ATESSIS, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Louis [NINIOS], Rochester; three brothers, Lonidas, Haralabes and Panayoti NINIOS, all in Greece, and one cousin, Gus NINIOS, South Bend. Last rites will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with Father Constantine MATHEWS of St. Andrews Greek Orthodix church of South Bend officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.

Survivors inadvertently omitted Thursday in the obituary of Christ L. NINIOS, are two cousins, Mrs. Bill McKEE, Rochester, and George BROWN, Madison, Wis.
