SOUTH BEND - Mr. Francis Grzeszczyk, 82, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by his side after a long illness. Francis was born in Terre Coupee, IN, on Sept. 30, 1931, to the late Anthony and Sophie (Marshall) Grzeszczyk. He was married for 43 years to Roberta Mae (Duensing) Grzeszczyk, who survives of South Bend. They were married in New London, CT, on December 16, 1972, while he was on leave from the US Navy, which he was retired from after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the US Navy Reserves, American Legion and the USS Bremmington Reunion Organization. "Frank," as he was known, worked for the Indiana Toll Road for 16 years; he loved farming and worked for Marcell Coorman, Sr. & Jr. He had also worked at Studebaker's. Left to cherish his memory along with his wife "Bobbie" are two daughters: Penny (Russell) Barber of Elkhart and Shiela Davis of South Bend; a sister, Maryann Turak of Rolling Prairie, IN; three brothers: Paul Grzeszczyk of South Bend, Walter (Ruth Ann) Grzeszczyk of Portage, IN, and Richard (Gloria) Grzeszczyk of New Carlisle, IN; four grandchildren: Aaron (Ashley) Payne and Andrea Payne, both of Mishawaka, Thomas (Candace) Barber and Jacob (Mindy) Barber, both of Elkhart; and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be especially missed by his kitty "Baby Girl." Cremation is being cared for by McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel and the American Cremation Society. His ashes will be entombed at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Frank's memory to any children's charity. Published in South Bend Tribune on May 30, 2014
