SOUTH BEND - Bert Frank Dzikowski, 76, of South Kaley Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dzikowski was the co-owner of The Corner-Interiors by Don, with Mr. Donald William. He was born on Sept. 18, 1922, in South Bend, to Walter and Helen (Levandowski) Dzikowski. On Jan. 16, 1949, in South Bend, he married the former Virginia L. Levandowski, who preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1951. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Mary Helen Winkowski, who died in June 1977. He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Randy) Shamory of South Bend; a granddaughter, Katie Joy Shamory; and by two brothers, Casimer Dzikowski and Stanley Machowiak, Sr., both of South Bend. Mr. Dzikowski was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church where he was the assistant organist for many years, and was very instrumental in Southhold Restoration, Inc. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Zawistowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 27, and from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. A parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Parish organ fund, 159 N. Summit Drive, South Bend, IN 46619.
