Caroline June Mitchell, 73, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 30, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family in Edwardsburg, MI. She was born on August 11, 1947 in South Bend, IN, to Richard Paul and Evelyn Sylvia (Luczkowski) Andrews, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 24, 1969 in South Bend, Caroline married Donald L. Mitchell, who survives. In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, Caroline is survived by her son, Colin Patrick (June) Mitchell of Bolton, MA; daughter, Kristin Lee (Daniel) DesRosiers of Decatur, MI; seven grandchildren, Benjamin DesRosiers, Brayden DesRosiers, Chloe Mitchell, Renee Mitchell, Olivia Mitchell, Isaac DesRosiers, and Abigail DesRosiers; step-sister, Mary Hempstead of Elkhart, IN; and step-brother, Joseph Hempstead, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN. In addition to her parents, Caroline was preceded in death by her step-sister, Sally Hempstead, and her step-father, Joseph Hempstead, who raised Caroline along with her mother. Caroline graduated from Mishawaka High School and attended Indiana University South Bend, before moving to Edwardsburg, where she was a resident for the past 47 years. She attended Liberty Chapel Pentecostal in Dowagiac, MI. She was also a member of Edwardsburg Lioness Club. Caroline was a wonderful “grammie” and loving mother. Funeral services for Caroline will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00-1:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
