ELKHART - John P. Mandis Jr., 62, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:42 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, in his residence. He was born April 30, 1951, to John Mandis Sr. and Rosalia Francesconi. He worked at Penn Central Railroad. He is survived by his mother, Rosalia Mandis of Elkhart; sister Carol Beadle of Elkhart; brother George (Bonnie) Mandis of Fredericksburg, Va.; and two nephews, Nicholas Mandis of Fredericksburg and James Ray Beadle III of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation was for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, service at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Officiated by Father Glenn Kohrman of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial took place in St. Vincent Cemetery. He attended IU Bloomington and St. Vincent grade school and was a graduate of EHS Class of 1969. He was a musician who played bass guitar, was active in athletics in high school, enjoyed drawing and had a good sense of humor. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.Arrangements were entrusted to Waterman Westbrook Clouse Funeral Home.
