SOUTH BEND - Leonard S. Dobrucki, 86, passed away at 12:08 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Memorial Hospital surrounded by 11 members of his loving family. Leonard was born on July 5, 1925, in South Bend, to Stephen and Carrie (Banicki) Dobrucki. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Raymond, who passed away on January 8, 2009. On July 6, 1946, Leonard married, his high school sweetheart, Jane (Kosiak), who survives along with daughters, Bonnie (Mike) Dawson of Edwardsburg, MI, and Susan (Jeff) Nemeth of South Bend; son, Terry (Sandy) Dobrucki of South Bend; grandchildren, Shannon (Amy) Dobrucki, Lindsey (Nate) Marker, Kristi (Brian) Flaherty, Kelly (Brian) Archambeault, Kevin Nemeth, Andrew Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Mya, Megan, Kaitlin, Evan and Emily. Leonard honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a machinist for M.B. Skinner Co. and a custodian for the South Bend Community School Corporation. He enjoyed dancing, travelling with his friends, and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of the Cubs, Bears and ND football. Leonard was a member of the St. Joe Club and of American Legion Post 357. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm today, September 19, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
